Marisol Nichols

Marisol Nichols, who stars as Hermione Lodge in CW’s newest hit drama Riverdale, grew up reading the Archie comics that the show is based off of. Nichols was thrilled when she first heard about the writer’s idea to pursue a dark, mysterious twist on the comics; she hopes to continue exploring similar plotlines in upcoming seasons.

Since networks such as CBS and CW are known for creating crossover plotlines across different shoes, Nichols hopes that Riverdale will be able to experience one as well. “I want to do some supernatural like kicking butt super hero stuff,” she said excitedly.

Nichols also went on to say that she wouldn’t mind being casted as a villain if a supernatural crossover were to ever occur. “I recently did one on Teen Wolf,” she explained. “I was like, ‘Oh I like this. This is the first one I’ve ever done.’ It was really fun so I’m alright with that.”

Archie and the gang will return for another season filled with drama, mystery, and thrill this upcoming fall.

Host: WonderCon Anaheim 2017. Joining me right now is Marisol Nichols. She stars in The CW’s new hit series “Riverdale.” Marisol, girl, thank you so much for being here.

Marisol: Yeah!

Host: I am such as huge fan of your show, from 24 to… gosh I think I kind of grew up with you. ***laughs***

Marisol: ***laughs*** Thanks!

Host: Can you tell us a little more about the show, just for our new viewers out there.

Marisol: Yeah! So um our show is based on the Archie comics with Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead. It’s sort of a modern day darker twist mystery version of the Archie comics.

Host: Awesome. Very cool. Now have you guys finished filming this season?

Marisol: Yes, we finished in February.

Host: Okay, and you guys are definitely coming back next year.

Marisol: Yes, we’re definitely coming back!

Host: I’m so excited. Congratulations on that. Now, we’re you a big fan growing up of the Archie comics?

Marisol: I used to get them when I would get my Bazooka Joe gum wrappers.

Host: You can’t really get away from them. They are everywhere!

Marisol: That’s how I got them. Exactly.

Host: What do you normally geek out about?

Marisol: Oh! Game of Thrones! I’m a big geek of Game of Thrones. They’re my ringer on my phone actually.

Host: Awesome. Cool. Now CBS and CW are known for they’re crossovers. Are there any particular crossovers that you would kind of hope to cross over on?

Marisol: Yeah, I want to do some supernatural like kicking butt super hero stuff. I wanna do that.

Host: Now do you want to be a superhero or a villain?

Marisol: Ooo. I like being a villain.

Host: You’re really good at being a villain.

Marisol: I recently did one on Teen Wolf and I was like, “Oh I like this. This is the first one I’ve ever done.” It was really fun so I’m alright with that.

Host: You are so intriguing to watch, I love that. Let’s talk about Ninja Turtles. So who is your favorite character?

Marisol: Um, who is the one that does all the break dancing?

Host: Michaelangelo!

Marisol: Okay, Michaelangelo.

Host: Okay, not a problem. I have a thing for Donatello, but we can still be friends. That’s alright. What would you like on your pizza topping. What’s your favorite?

Marisol: Oh, cheese and black olives.

Host: Okay, not bad. What’s your favorite turtle slogan, “Kowabunga” or “Turtle Power”?

Marisol: Cowabunga.

Host: Cowabunga, okay. Let’s close that on our segment. You can watch Marisol Nichols star in the CW’s hit series Riverdale and be sure to check your local listings. Thank you so much girl for doing this this evening.

Marisol: Thank you very much!

Host: Look forward to seeing you on TV, at the Con, and on future panels as well. Thank you much. Let’s go ahead and close out on Kowabunga. Ready? 1, 2, 3!

Both: Cowabunga!
