One of the most key elements of The Flash is Barry’s love interest Iris West who is played magnificently by Candice Patton who gives us her thoughts one how season 4 will mark a new stepping stone in the show’s history. After an incredible season finale we were left in awe of how Iris and Barry would go on after all the insanity caused by Savitar. Patton who has proven over and over again how strong of a member she is to the overall cast of the show and that strength showed in season 3. Now it’s time to see what has happened to Iris after losing her fiancé to one of the deadliest foes we have seen on screen and to see just how that impacted her sense of well being as well as who she has had to become.
Throughout the 6 month period of Barry’s absence Iris has become a more integral member of team Flash seeing as how she was forced to fill in the gaps along with coping with the loss of her soon-to-be husband. We are told that because of this Iris has been hardened into something of a General and that Patton likes to see the character get some agency and really contribute. While she too confirmed a lighter tone for the season as a whole, Patton also expresses interest in playing a super hero and even a villain. Even though she says it would be fun, Patton also notes how it’s important to have the Joe’s and Iris’s, in other words normal humans so that we can see a more diverse spectrum of perspectives. So we may not get to see super Iris but we know that she will be more involved and hands on in the upcoming season of The Flash, maybe we’ll get a wedding episode.
