To the man who took in an orphan and helped shape the man we now know as the flash I would like to offer my gratitude to Joe West the incomparable father figure that has helped guide our scarlet speedster. Jessie L. Martin brings the character of Joe to life and is without a doubt one of the quite possibly the wisest moral voice the show has to offer. Throughout the three seasons of CW’s The Flash we have seen Joe try and succeed as a non-super powered detective by using his clever wit and incorruptible moral compass. We even see how well Martin can handle the emotional issues of the show when we saw the introduction of Wally West and now we are waiting to see how Joe West will adapt to Central City without a Flash as well as build on the relationship with his son Wally in season 4.
Even though someone is always coming after his kids Joe West has proven time and time again that he is the papa bear ready to protect what’s his utilizing any and all means to do so. After losing not only his estranged wife Francine but also his son Barry it’s incredible that Joe remains mentally intact but now with a new edition of team Flash we hope to see Joe regain some footing. Savitar was easily one of the greatest foes any of the team has ever faced and while there will be more bad guys in season 4 the show will be brought back to a lighter tone and as Martin puts it “more family focused”. He even expresses the interest to have a more active role in a crossover with Supergirl or Legends of Tomorrow. The new season of The Flash will be interesting to say the least especially with Joe getting a chance at romance however we know that things get complicated quick in Central City when you have someone you care about.
