Krypton is going to blow up! And I’m not just talking about the planet because after sitting down with the tenacious teleporter Adam Strange played by Shawn Sipos I can definitely say that this show is one that all comic book fans should be excited for. It was a slow start but once Sipos started talking we really saw his eyes light up about portraying the man trying to save an entire planet if not the universe’s greatest protector, Superman. We discussed a lot of stuff with our short 10 minutes with him and touching on topics such as the character, the inspiration, the powers, and even some episodes to anticipate.
Praising Adam Strange as a fantastic character and being incredibly fond of him, Sipos notes that his mission is to save all that he can if he can. Describing not only an altruistic motive but also a personal drive to be a hero and answer the call to adventure, which is where the series begins. Comparing his character to the show’s main protagonist Seyg and even Superman, we know that Adam (while human) is the alien on Krypton and we were lucky enough to get Sipos’ underlying motivations for portraying the outcast. He noted how when he was young he bounced around a lot to different schools and that made him feel ostracized at certain points even going as far as to say how it was a little painful to tap into those memories. Sipos also dove into how Kyle Reese, the time traveler from the Terminator franchinse, was a big influence to how the experience affects the mind and body. Trying to preserve the timeline the best he can while trying to adapt to a new world is a big challenge so hopefully Adam Strange is up to the task so be sure to tune in and look out for the arc in episode 5 to 8.
