The up and coming Marvel TV adaptation of the popular characters Cloak & Dagger has us all curious as to how it will translate to the screen and if it will do the characters justice. Freeform’s Cloak & Dagger will feature the two main characters from the comics portrayed by Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone a.k.a. Cloak and Olivia Holt as Tandy who we know as Dagger. After sitting down with the pair of talented actors I still have many questions but thankfully we got more than enough from our short time with them. Talking about the show’s overall message along with how they can serve as symbols for those watching especially with viewers that can relate to the characters on a parasocial level.
As they both took their seats it was clear that the chemistry between them was strong as their attire was clearly themed and while they claimed that it was unintentional it still exemplified the roles they will be playing. Aubrey Joseph started off by explaining how previously he had no knowledge of the character but after doing research he became a fan. Joseph also went into how the show will be emblematic of certain social messages that are more relevant in today’s world, Holt also back this up. She went into how the show deals with a lot of heavy topics and while Joseph explained that it is not forced the show will still serve a symbolic role. Holt also touched on how it won’t be exclusively dark and gloomy because after all they are teenagers in the show and therefore opens the door to more comedic awkwardness to break up the drama. Wrapping up with how the two have grown stronger together as actors with Joseph going so far as to say that Tandy will be the light in Tyrone’s life so be sure to tune in!
