“There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. See if they could work together when we needed them to to fight the battles we never could” – Nick Fury, Avengers (2012).
First there was Iron Man. Then there was Thor. Then we added Captain America. It only made sense that Marvel threw them all together in their first big superhero event, The Avengers. When the world is threatened by beings from outside our world, who can save us all but a ragtag group of superpowered individuals? A billionaire, a man out of time, a raging monster, a superspy, a sharpshooter, and a literal god team up in this high-powered thrill ride.
Though the movie takes its time bringing the team together, the threat is there from the start and it always seems to be two steps ahead of our heroes. In the middle of the most important battle of the movie all of our heroes stand back to back in an incredibly powerful and moving moment. If you see one superhero movie in your lifetime, this should be it.
