Puberty makes kids’ emotions run wild, almost as if those emotions had emotions themselves! Inside Out takes audiences on a wild ride through a middle school girl’s, Riley’s, brain, which is run by her emotions: Joy, Anger, Fear, Disgust, and Sadness. When Riley and her parents move from Minnesota to San Francisco, her very personality starts to break down. Joy and Sadness are sent on a mission to save Riley’s core memories, the memories that make her who she is and represent an aspect of her personality. Joy and Sadness find that things are much more complicated in Riley’s brain than they initially thought, and have to team up with some crazy characters to keep Riley from running away from her new home.
Inside Out tells an amazing story of why we act the way we do, and why we sometimes do things we are not proud of. It encourages audiences to step back and consider that not everything should be taken personally – everyone is dealing with something of their own, and our emotions tend to make us lash out in weird and unrelated ways. Not only does Inside Out give kids a new and helpful way to identify their emotions, it is also a heartwarming adventure that the whole family will love.
