Disney On Ice | I ‘Dared to Dream’ – and it’s a must see!

D32B_20170906_10621_EditDisney On Ice – Dare to Dream…takes you through Disney’s most recently famous path of hits and revisits some of their marvelous musical movies and characters. The superb ice skating brings out a host of Disney’s favorite characters as they come to life to tell their stories, through their amazing set designs, costumes and choreography while also dancing in their skates on ice. Anyone who dreams of becoming a princess and there are many princesses who are there to dare to dream – and children who dare to dream of becoming a hero at this show. This is what Disney is so notably famous for and it is all so incredibly presented on Ice. So DARE TO DREAM

The first two songs start the show with a sweet opening from the Disney Pixar movie “Coco” and is sung by handsome Miguel while swiftly gliding around the ice arena. He is beautifully playing his guitar and serenading the audience while colorful decorative ice skaters dance in a traditional Mexican style behind him.

To kick off the first half of the show “Beauty and the Beast” is featured in their great story of finding love by loving someone for who they are and not for what they look like. From the beginning, the audience is transported to a French Village when Belle comes out to sing of how she dares to dream about wanting more in her life than from what her village has to offer. Eventually, we encounter the tremendous love story and of how their love develops and evolves between Belle and the Beast. The Ice rink is full of extra dancing, swirling skaters who brings the story of pure enchantment. We are soon invited to “Be Our Guest” and witness the love between the two of them. The ice dancers are literally costumed in sweetly delicious treats which move in live animated way. The crowd admires and expects to see characters like these that you would find at Disneyland – and they delivered.

In the next story, Cinderella emerges from pauper to princess and makes a grand entrance as we see her dare to dream of a life outside from the one she has with her mean step-mother and step-sisters. Her beautiful transformation is notable while riding in the golden lit carriage pulled by the trotting horses. Her fairy godmother let us know that “Bibbidi- Bobbidi – Boo” has managed to help her attend the ball in grace and on time. Cinderella becomes a princess after her dream comes true by meeting the delightful handsome prince and he gives her a better life that she once lived.

Following this story of a princess getting her dream to come true, is the story of “Tangled”. It’s the story of Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder as she dares to dream to have a life outside the walls of the tower that she has been a prisoner in. The dialogue between the two is comical and the highlight in this performance – (and a definite must see) is an aerial acrobatic scene that takes this show to a new higher limit – literally. It reminds us of a Ciirque Du Soliel type of a movement and it leaves the crowd in awe.

After intermission, which you will have no trouble finding any sweet treat imaginable for children or adults alike- you must also try one of the many delectable snacks from a variety of vivacious vendors – but make sure you leave enough time to use the rest room because you definitely do not want to miss any part of the 2nd half of the show.

The Second half opens up with the show stopper, “Frozen” and we witness the love that blossoms when the two sisters, Anna and Elsa have to find a bond to bring their sisterly love back that is so desperately needed. The song “Let It Go” is sung and in the delight of the two sisters finding harmony in their love for one another again – it is very special. Olaf, the ice snowman adds charm, humor and pure fun to this magical story.

In the Finale, the story of “Moana” makes her debut on ice as she dares to dream of life beyond the reef to save her people. She must team up with the Demigod Maui on an action- packed adventure and voyage battling an enormous monster along the way. She dares and dreams to help her people and along the way she finds the one thing she had always sought – having her own identity. She not only is a princess but becomes a hero by helping to save her island.

The staging, the costumes, the songs and the story- telling brings Disney’s magical stories to life – and again it’s all on ice skates. I found this show to be great entertainment for children, adults and families. It brings a message of hope, dreams, love and of being a hero to someone who may desperately need to be saved. Attending Disney On Ice – is a great way to share a memorable evening with your children, friends and loved ones. When this evening begins, the emcee immediately enchants and engages the audience to get up and dance, sing and move to the music at any time of the many performances – the vibes in the arena are electrifying and so many children are in pure delight from the very beginning. Everywhere you look you see lots of princesses and heroes in the audience waving their glowing magical wands to participate in the joy that these characters bring to us all – ALL on ice. Tiny little ones can’t help but get off their seats at one time or another to the many recognizable famous songs. From the very beginning you are mesmerized by the colorful castle with a very tall tower that sets the stage and illuminates on ice. The ice itself changes many colors depending on the scene and there were numerous moments when I felt like a kid again watching in amazement and in delight – I Dared to Dream – and it’s a must see!
