The Movieguide Awards is a special time for faith-based family movies to be acknowledged and celebrated and this year we were able to catch producer, David A.R. White. We were able to ask him about his latest film, God’s Not Dead A Light in Darkness and some advice he’d give to those who wish to make a career in the film industry. From what White said about the film, it seems like a very uplifting film that will inspire people to want to have a closer relationship with the Lord especially when they are struggling. It is good to show people that God will never leave you in your time of need, no matter how bad or hard life seems to get He will always be there to help you through. I am very excited to see that a faith-based film like this was nominated and I encourage you guys to check it out!
Host: Machelle Noel here at the 2019 Movieguide Awards, joining me right now is David A.R. White. Thank you so much for being here, congratulations yet again another success number three! God’s Not Dead, He’s still alive. A Light in Darkness and for those folks out there who haven’t seen the movie yet, can you give them a little idea of what this movie is about?
Wright: No! They have to go see it-
Host: Besides the fact that God’s not dead.
Wright: Alright well God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness is umm – umm – it is a film – it’s different than the first two because Pastor Dave goes through a lot of stuff in this and it’s through the trials, tribulations, what happens when his church is burned down, his best friend dies; all these things start happening, but the – the – center take away from it all is love.
Host: Yeah.
Wright: And uh I think we need more of that in our country today.
Host: Wow that’s awesome. Now given the fact that we’re at the Movieguide Awards, how much does this event mean to you and getting recognized here as well?
Wright: Well yeah I’m always honored to be here and I think you know Ted Bear and the whole Movieguide Awards, I’m honored that they value faith and family films and that’s what we make, so – so we’re happy to be here.
Host: What inspirational wisdom or biblical verse do you live by every day given death?
Wright: You know what I love is I make my kids say Bible verses every morning on the way to school and so today my daughter said Proverbs – I want to say because sometimes I open and say, “Well what verse do you want to say?” and she goes, “My favorite verse, Proverbs 3:5 and 6.” She’s five, I love that and that’s one of my favorites, trusting the Lord with all your heart.
Host: Yep. One more thing, so you’re behind the camera in front of everything, what kind of inspirational advice can you give to folks out there about to get into the film industry both for actors and filmmakers?
Wright: Well uhh you know what if it’s a dream that’s inside your heart, then I think ultimately you can’t let it go and it’s bigger than who you are and if you can bring glory to the Lord then go for that.
Host: Here’s another one, how do you maintain fellowship with the believers in your community while also doing ministry for the non-believers?
Wright: I just think you have to be true to – you have to be real with people and that’s what God’s Not Dead 3 is all about. You have to be authentic, people want – they don’t want a facade of a human being to talk to. They want a real person through your ups and downs your trials and tribulations. Whatever it is you’re going through just be real in the process of it and ultimately if the Lord is at the center of it you know God is faithful and He offers that love and peace that we all yearn for, so seek that.
Host: Any other projects that we can look out for in the future? Is there a possible fourth God’s –
Wright: Actually we are discussing that but right now I’m most excited about pureflix.com, which is our version of Netflix – Would you be dammed here’s my mom.
Cheryl: Here’s mom, hello son.
Wright: Hi mom.
Host: You guys look like brother and sister –
Wright: Yeah – most beautiful mom on the planet.
Cheryl: Well I didn’t look like this on the show.
Host: Oh my gosh well I hope we can catch up with you soon! Cheryl I am such a huge fan you have no idea.

Hi! My name is Krista Buligon and I am a Senior at San Diego Christian College. I am a student athlete majoring in Communication with an emphasis in the Film and Media. I have always had a strong interest in all types of movies because they take me to another world. But my favorite places to go to are New York with a crazy spider kid saving the day, Gotham with a vigilante dressed as a bat fighting a penguin or joker, the wizarding world of Hogwarts with a kid with a scar on his head fighting “He Who Shall Be Named”, or a galaxy far far away with jedi knights battling sith lords with colorful lightsabers. My friends always laugh and call me a super nerd for loving any forms of science fiction but those movies shape me into who I am today. When I am not on the basketball court or working at In N Out Burger I am either on my couch watching movies or writing for fun. I hope that after I graduate I can turn my writing hobby into a career and impact others the way movies have always impacted me. Instagram: @Princess_Krista11 | View My Projects
