Spider-Man: Far From Home (Movie Review) by Pablo D.

Spider-Man_Far_From_Home_posterNow that Tony Stark is dead, the quest to find the new chief superhero has begun. Many are pointing to a teenage high school student to be the world’s savior of doom but all he wants to do is to confess his love for his crush. Peter Parker has the opportunity to do such a thing in an upcoming trip to Europe which turns out to be chaotic from the Superhero perspective as well as the high school perspective.

In order to further analyze this film, I will have to describe moments in the film in further depth which is known to others as SPOILERS which I apologize for but there are no major alternatives.

To start off, I have to praise the storyline that the film provided for the audience it is one of the many reasons why people were still glued to their seats. The chemistry between Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and MJ (Zendaya) was so interesting that I hope that they will assemble a romantic relationship in real life. In fact, I hope that she can aid Spider Man in any way in future films because her recovery of the debris from the carnival battle was essential into finding out that Quentin Beck (Jake Gyllenhaal) was betraying the good side. That small incident or small piece of loss debris completely changed the complexion of the film.

Back to Beck, the performance of Gyllenhaal was also magnificent. He has a gifted role in always portraying the role of a villain or an insane individual. We saw something similar in the early 21st Century film “Donnie Darko” where he looked completely normal and it turned out he was this insane maniac. Some similar part of the film occurs after Beck or Mysterio gains possession of E.D.I.T.H (the artificially intelligence glasses that behaves like a secretary).

At first, he played the role of a sympathetic ally who understands Peter Parker’s struggle of being a major superhero and a high school student who is simply trying to live a normal life. Furthermore, when Parker offered E.D.I.T.H to Mysterio, he was very hesitant to accept before he reluctantly did. What I am trying to explain, the part after Peter Parker leaves which left me mesmerized. It turned out that he was only playing the role of a sympathetic ally and he was simply an unstable individual who was trying to play the role of a hero at the expense of the public good. When I found out he was not in a good path, I was completely shocked and did not expect that which is Gyllenhaal’s gift as actor, always surprising the audience.

Even after Parker defeated Mysterio, he knew how to create damage which is what we found out in the after credit scene which Mysterio reveals to the New York City public who Spider Man really is. He exposed him by giving out his real name (Peter Parker) and even framed him for mistreating him for his intentions to keep the world safe. That was also a great scene of the film which completely changed the film from having a good ending to a “OH NO” type feeling and making us wait as to what’s next.

Even though, I have spoiled the important parts of the film already, if you decide to see it in the movie theaters. Don’t leave your seats until the screen goes black. First, because you’ll miss a crucial part of the film and second because it’s so good that that is why the film has earned approximately $975 million in the box office.

Hi, I’m Pablo Diaz, I’m a four year student at UC San Diego. I will be graduating in June with a Bachelor of Science with Communication. My desired interest has always been the journalism industry as I feel like writing is a perfect way for one to express themselves. Join GeekRockTV is the first time I’m getting my feet wet when it comes to internships so I don’t really have experience when it comes to joining a team. I really hope to learn a lot from GeekRock TV and hopefully this can help me in the future in regards to writing and technology. The career goal for me is to become a sportscaster or sports journalist because sports represent me as a person. I love baseball and basketball and it would be really cool for me getting involved in such a capacity. The short term goal is exploring and trying new things as getting familiarized with the different realms of the world can make one a well rounded person. So I am really looking forward to this and with positivity anything you is possible.
