In a room filled with fans and flashing cameras we are joined by a few cast members and show creator of AMC’s kung fu drama Into the Badlands. Here we get the insider views into season 3 of the show from our fearless fighters Daniel Wu, who plays the show’s protagonist Sunny, and Nick Frost, who plays Bajie, as well as a new cast member Loraine Toussaint and show creator Alfred Gough. Questions coming in from around the room did not just focus in on the newest season of the show but also how the actors feel about contributing towards the program and their attitudes on how it is rapidly evolving. With new characters and new plot points to be addressed we are surely in for a surprising season 3 of deadly fighters, comedic sidekicks, and powerful barons.
Of the topics discussed Nick Frost dove into how even though the show conveys a very serious message of power and struggle, there are moments of comedic relief especially in an upcoming fight scene where the character will use a squid as nun chucks. Daniel Wu also chimed in on the nature of how the fights come into fruition after much practice but also how they are based on the particular actor’s skill set. Noting specifically how newcomer Lewis Tan, who will be playing the brother of Baron Chao, is well versed in martial arts and so it makes it easier to construct the fight sequences. We also have fellow newcomer Loraine Toussaint describe her character who will bring in the role of religion that the show touched on in the past seasons. The theme of religion will be more prevalent with Toussaint’s character Cressida being involved as well as her counterpart Pilgrim, played by Babou Ceesay. We also know that one of the major characters from season 2 will return and Alfred Gough notes that Nathaniel Moon is out to reclaim his honor with the help of a new hand provided by the widow so be sure to tune in and see it all unfold.
